He has been Master Tequilier (tequila sommelier) of the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Cancun,
La Joya Restaurant in the Fiesta Americana Hotel Coral Beach, La Distillery Restaurant, Hacienda Sisal of the Hotel Royal Sands,the Riviera Maya in the Exotic club of the Hotel Dorado Royale and Maroma Dorado & Hotel Boutique Azul Beach.
In this capacity, Cisneros promotes the enjoyment of tequila as more than just a margarita mixer or a shot. Cisneros’ love for tequila has inspired him to educate hotel guests, and anyone with an interest, about the rich culture of tequila, both as spirit and as a national symbol. For groups and conventions, Cisneros has provides a demonstration about history, etiquette, and proper enjoyment of the often-misunderstood spirit Tequila.
Working in Cancun’s most widely known and largest hotel zone in Mexico has allowed him the opportunity to share his passion and knowledge of tequila with visitors from around the world. Interest in top-shelf tequilas has spread across the Mexican border causing an increase in demand in the United States and Europe.
In December of 1994, during Cisneros previous tenure as Master Tequilier for the Ritz-Carlton Cancun, he received an award from the Tequila Industry Association at the restaurant Rosa Mexicana in New York City, as the FIRST MEXICAN TEQUILIER. Since that time he has received extensive recognition for promoting tequila including one personally given for Mr. Don Julio Gonzalez Estrada, owner at the time of Tequila 3 Magueys & Don Julio. This is his most significant recognition.
In 1995, he was featured in Cigar Aficionado Magazine, in a featured article “Tequila: Once the Liquor of Machismo and Margaritas, Tequila has Gone Decidedly Upscale.” that helped him open the international door during the 90’s.
He has a Masters in Tequila as Tequila Specialist Certified by the C.R.T. and previously studied Tourism & Gastronomy administration in Mexico City. Currently, Mr. Cisneros Works for the Caribbean University located in Cancun as professor and Maestro Tequilier, in the Gastronomy Department and also in the hotel industry throughout Cancun & Riviera Maya as Master Tequilier. In 2009 he organized the first Tequila Seminar of Specialist in Tequila in all México certified by the C.R.T. (Consejo Regulador del Tequila)
