Rum Fest Cocktail Challenge

Presented by the
Polished Palate’s RumFest NYC 2005 & COCKTAIL TIMES

Together with COCKTAIL TIMES, this year’s RumFestNY will host the RumFestNY Cocktail Challengein search of the best rum cocktails that will become the official RumFestNY cocktails of next year.

Winners will be announced on November 18, 2005 by the Polished Palate LLC in dedicated press releases. Winning cocktails will be published by COCKTAIL TIMES as the official cocktails of RumFestNY. Recipes, brief bios of the winners and event photos will also be available at www.cocktailtimes.com and http://www.polishedpalate.com

Three (3) Categories of Cocktails:

  • Rum
  • Rhum
  • Cachaça

Entry Regulations:

  • Must be submitted by a bartender 21 years or older.
  • Must include no more than five ingredients (sugar and garnishes are not considered ingredients for this contest).
  • Must include ingredients readily available nationwide.
  • Must not require a blender.
  • Must be able to submit a complete recipe, instructions and photographs of the cocktail.
  • Use only rum, rhum, ron and brands participating at RumFestNY 2005.

Judging:

Cocktail entries will be judged based upon 50 percent taste & 50 percent creativity and originality by four lead judges: Dori Bryant from the PolishedPalate, host of RumFestNY 2005, Yuri Kato, Publisher of COCKTAIL TIMES, and Gary Regan of Ardent Spirits. Lead judges will begin pre-judging and narrow the list down to (2) two cocktails in each of the 3 (three) categories. The final 6 cocktails will be served exclusively at RumFestNY 2005 at LQ on Monday November 14, when all attendees will sample each and vote for their favorites.

Submission:

Please send the following items to Dori Bryant by midnight, Friday October 21, 2005.

  • The complete cocktail recipe and instructions
  • Name & email address of the creator and his/her contact information
  • Photograph(s) of the cocktail

Note:

All bartenders, bar & restaurant owners:
Ticket prices are 2 for the price of 1 (Total of $50).

All bartenders submitting Cocktail Challenge Recipes are welcome to attend at no charge. When contacting Dori Bryant, your name will be automatically added to our Invited Guest List. We also welcome Cocktail entries from Spirits Brands-participating brands only.
